Another Greenbelt closure as the Boise River continues to rise

BOISE, Idaho — The Boise River continues to rise with increased water flow resulting in another closure along the Boise River Greenbelt.
Boise Parks and Recreation reports that nearly .7 miles of the Greenbelt path is flooded and covered with water along the north side of the East Parkcenter Bridge near the Golda Harris Nature Preserve and Marianne Williams Park.
The water is knee-high in certain places and should not be entered for safety reasons. The river is running fast, deep, and cold right now and poses a risk to anyone nearing the waters edge.
The Boise River is currently flowing at 5,800 cubic feet per second (CFS) and could increase to 6,500 in the coming weeks according to the Army Corps of Engineers.
“With the weather warming up, it’s important that Greenbelt users be aware of their surroundings and plan ahead before visiting this popular pathway,” said Boise Parks and Recreation Director Doug Holloway. “Please avoid all closed areas and utilize the signed detours in place for your own safety.”
