Hayden fire continues to grow

The Hayden fire that is burning in the Lemhi Range in the Salmon-Challis national forest continues to grow as crews continue to work to get the fire under control.

The Hayden fire has reached 3,633 acres and is zero percent contained as of Saturday morning.

Aviation efforts were hindered on Friday due to low visibility but ground crews were able to dig hand lines and use bulldozers to create fire lines to the north of the fire.

The fire continues to grow towards the southwest into Morse Creek. Crews are working to protect the Morse Creek campground and other valuable areas that are threatened by the fire.
